The Number of Dairy Cattle Farms in Indonesia Decreased in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the number of national dairy cattle farms was 34 companies in 2020. This is fewer than the previous year's 37 companies. West Java ranked first as the province with the largest number of dairy cattle farming companies, with 11 companies in 2020.

Most national dairy cattle farming companies are PT/CV/Firma (Limited Liability Companies/Commanditaire Vennootschap/Partnerships) at 55.88%, followed by cooperatives at 29.41%, and foundations at 14.71%. The number of workers in 2020 was 1,327, a 21.63% increase compared to 2019. 93.07% of the total workforce were male.

The population of female dairy cattle at the end of 2020 was 26,749 heads. From this number, productive female cattle can produce 221.87 million liters of fresh milk in one year, or 6.53 million liters per company.

In 2018, the largest dairy cattle farm in Indonesia officially opened in Wlingi District, Blitar Regency, East Java, covering an area of 172 hectares. The farm is managed by PT Greenfield Indonesia and can accommodate up to 10,000 cattle.

The cattle farm in Wlingi District is the second farm owned by PT Greenfields Indonesia in Indonesia. Previously, this popular fresh milk producer already had a dairy cattle farm in Babadan Village, Ngajum District, Malang.
