Indonesia's Mining Sector Exports Soar 94.29% in January-November 2021

Indonesia's non-oil and gas mining sector exports showed positive performance. From January to November 2021, the value of mining sector exports reached US$34.11 billion, a 94.29% increase compared to the US$17.55 billion recorded during the same period in 2020.

Compared to the full year of 2020, which totaled US$19.73 billion, mining exports from January to November 2021 were also higher, showing a 72.9% increase.

Observing the trend, the value of mining sector exports increased by 33.8% in 2017 and 20.5% in 2018. However, after that, the value decreased for two consecutive years, falling by 14.98% in 2019 and a further 20.75% in 2020.

Mining sector exports from January to November 2021 contributed 17.23% to the total value of national non-oil and gas exports. Mineral fuels were the largest contributing commodity to the value of mining sector exports, reaching US$28.29 billion or 14.3%.

Exports of metalliferous ores, slag, and ash totaled US$5.72 billion (2.9%). Exports of salt, sulfur, lime, and jewelry/precious stones amounted to US$103.5 million (0.10%) and US$0.2 million (0.00%), respectively.
