This Province is Indonesia's Largest Soybean Production Center

Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), the average national soybean production during the 2015-2019 period was 687,151 tons per year.

East Java was the largest soybean producing province during this period, with an average production of 215,035 tons per year. This contributed 31.29% to national soybean production.

Central Java ranked second, with an average production of 106,089 tons per year, or 15.44% of national production.

West Java ranked third, with an average production of 82,060 tons per year, or 11.94% of national production.

Decreasing Soybean Production Trend During 2015-2019

According to Kementan's report, the national soybean production trend during the 2015-2019 period showed a significant decline.

Kementan recorded soybean production in 2015 at 963,180 tons, decreasing to 859,650 tons in 2016, and significantly dropping to 538,730 tons in 2017.

In 2018, production increased to 650,000 tons, but fell again to 424,190 tons in 2019.

Kementan attributes this decline in national soybean production to high competition for land use with other commodities.
