Farmers' Welfare Level in This Province Was the Lowest in Indonesia in 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that in 2021, ten provinces had the lowest farmer welfare levels in Indonesia. Bali recorded the lowest national farmer welfare level last year.

This is reflected in the lower combined farmer exchange rate (NTP) in Bali compared to the other 33 provinces. According to BPS data, Bali's combined NTP was 92.84 in 2021.

This figure decreased by 1.52% from the previous year. Compared to the beginning of the index calculation (2018=100), the welfare level of farmers in Bali decreased by 7.16%. The low welfare level of Bali's farmers is burdened by the low plantation farmer exchange rate (NTPR) at 84.72.

The provinces with the next lowest welfare levels are East Nusa Tenggara with an NTP of 95.22, followed by Yogyakarta Special Region with an NTP of 97.38, West Java with an NTP of 97.84, and Banten with an NTP of 98.44.

Then there is South Sulawesi with an NTP of 98.55, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with an NTP of 99.16, Central Sulawesi with an NTP of 99.72, and East Java and Central Java with NTPs of 100.02 and 100.37 respectively.

Of the ten provinces with the lowest NTPs, eight are below 100. This means that the welfare level of farmers in these eight provinces is lower than at the beginning of the index calculation in 2018.
