The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's garlic exports reached US$ 322,000 in 2020. This figure surged 487.71% compared to 2019, which amounted to US$ 55,000.
Garlic export values have shown a fluctuating trend. In 2016, garlic exports were recorded at US$ 183,000. This value increased by 321.8% to US$ 772,000 in 2017.
Then, the value of garlic exports plummeted to US$ 32,000 in 2018 and slightly decreased further to US$ 26,000 in 2019. Only in 2020 did the value of garlic exports skyrocket again.
The main destination for garlic exports was Taiwan, with export values reaching US$ 241,870 (140 tons). Singapore followed with exports reaching US$ 44,140 (18 tons), and South Korea with exports reaching US$ 14,400 (16 tons).
Meanwhile, the value of garlic imports was recorded at US$ 598.38 million in 2020. This figure increased by 9.37% compared to the previous year, which was US$ 547.08 million.
The main source country for garlic imports was China, with a value reaching US$ 597 million or 594,000 tons. Following this were the United States with imports reaching US$ 1.06 million (159 tons), and Thailand with imports reaching US$ 163,510 (100 tons).
