Europe's Food Security: Among the World's Best Prepared

In the Global Food Security Index (GFSI), Finland achieved the top ranking as the best-performing country. The country scored 85.3 points on a scale of 0-100. The closer to 100, the stronger a country's food security.

Also from Europe, Ireland and the Netherlands followed with the best GFSI scores. These two countries scored 83.8 points and 79.9 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, Indonesia had a GFSI score of 59.5 in 2020, down 3.1 points compared to the previous year. This GFSI score caused Indonesia to drop three ranks from 62nd to 65th.

The Economist Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with Corteva Agriscience, compiled the GFSI, targeting 113 countries. The GFSI assessment is divided into four aspects: affordability, availability, quality and safety, and natural resources (NR) and resilience.
