National Tobacco Production Projected to Reach 261,011 Tons in 2021

Tobacco is one of the leading commodities in the agricultural sector. Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Indonesia's tobacco production in 2021 is estimated to have reached 261,011 tons. This figure is down slightly by 0.16% from the previous year, which reached 261,439 tons.

Based on province, East Java is the largest tobacco-producing province, with 136,069 tons in 2020. Other regions with significant tobacco production include Central Java with 55,549 tons and West Nusa Tenggara with 52,655 tons.

In terms of land area, Kementan estimates that in 2021, the national tobacco area was 236,687 hectares. This is a slight increase from the previous year's 236,013 hectares.

Meanwhile, national tobacco productivity is projected to be 1,124 kg/ha in 2021. This figure is down 1.2% from the previous year's 1,138 kg/ha.
