Farmer Welfare Increased by 0.15% in February 2022

Farmers' welfare improved in February 2022. This is reflected in the increase of the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in February 2022 compared to the previous month.

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the national NTP rose 0.15% to 108.83 in February 2022 from 108.67 the previous month. This increase was due to the index of prices received by farmers (It) being higher than the increase in the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).

The It index rose by 0.26% to 119.49 in February 2022 compared to the previous month. The palm oil, shallot, red chili, and rubber sub-sectors were the main drivers of this increase.

Meanwhile, Ib only rose 0.11% to 109.79 in February 2022 compared to the previous month. The sub-sectors driving the increase in Ib were shallots, red chilies, filter kretek cigarettes, and tomatoes.

Spatially, the NTP of farmers in Riau recorded the highest increase, namely 2.5% to 153.64 in February 2022 compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, the NTP of North Sumatra farmers recorded the deepest decline, at 0.72% to 125.83 from the previous month.
