West Java Had the Highest Number of Dairy Cattle Farms Nationally in 2021

Data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that in 2021, there were 534 livestock farming companies in Indonesia. 34 of these were dairy cattle farms, with West Java having the highest number nationally.

The majority of livestock farms (355 or 66.48% of the total) are located on Java. Sumatra has the next highest number, with 85 companies (15.92%).

Java dominates the dairy cattle farming sector. Of the 34 dairy cattle farms in Indonesia, 28 (82.35%) are located on Java. The remaining 3 (8.82%) are in Sumatra.

By province, West Java has the highest number of dairy cattle farms nationally, with 11 companies (32.35%). This is followed by East Java with 9 companies (26.47%) and Central Java with 7 companies (20.59%).

Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi each have only one dairy cattle farm. Maluku and Papua have none.

The BPS reports that of the 534 livestock farming companies nationwide, 34 are dairy cattle farms, 101 are large and small livestock farms, and 399 are poultry farms.
