Farmers' Welfare Index Increased by 1.08% in December 2021

Farmers' welfare generally improved at the end of the year. This is reflected in the combined farmer exchange rate (NTP) which rose by 1.08% to 108.34 in December 2021 from 107.18 the previous month.

The increase in the combined NTP was driven by a 1.72% increase in the index of prices received by farmers to 118.23 in December 2021 compared to November 2021. Meanwhile, the index of prices farmers had to pay only increased by 0.63% to 109.12 in December 2021 from the previous month.

The horticulture sub-sector (NTPH) recorded the highest increase, namely 6.38% to 102.7 in December 2021 compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the livestock sub-sector (NTPT) experienced the lowest increase, namely only 0.2% to 99.7% in December of last year compared to the previous year.

East Kalimantan farmers experienced the largest increase in welfare, rising 2.59% in December 2021 compared to the previous month. The increase in the combined NTP in the province was supported by the plantation sub-sector, especially palm oil commodities.

Meanwhile, farmers' welfare in DKI Jakarta experienced the sharpest decline, namely 0.71% to 101.89 in December 2021 compared to the previous month. This decline was triggered by the relatively stable index of fisheries commodities, while the index of prices to be paid increased.
