Soybean Productivity in Java Island is the Highest Nationally

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average national soybean productivity was 15.69 quintals/hectare (ku/ha) in 2020.

The average soybean productivity in Java is considerably higher than in other islands.

BPS data shows that the average soybean productivity in Java was 16.02 ku/ha. Bali and Nusa Tenggara were second with an average productivity of 15.65 ku/ha.

Sulawesi ranked third with an average soybean productivity of 15.44 ku/ha, followed by Sumatra at 12.54 ku/ha and Kalimantan at 11.69 ku/ha.

Maluku and Papua had the lowest average soybean productivity at 9.48 ku/ha. The combined average soybean productivity of islands outside Java was 14.94 ku/ha.

According to BPS, Java has higher average productivity due to greater availability of production inputs compared to other islands.

Climate factors and differences in soil fertility also influence productivity levels on each island.

A detailed provincial breakdown reveals that West Sulawesi has an average soybean productivity exceeding 20 ku/ha.

Most provinces in Java (West Java, Central Java, and East Java), along with Bengkulu, West Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, and Southeast Sulawesi, have an average productivity of 15.01-20.00 ku/ha.

Provinces with low average soybean productivity (below 10 ku/ha) include North Sumatra, West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, and Papua.

Soybean productivity is the soybean production calculated per unit of land. This productivity is calculated based on the amount of soybean production in units of dry pods per unit of land, namely quintals per hectare.
