This is the Province with the Largest Corn Harvest Area Nationally in 2023, East Java is the King

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesia's total harvested area of corn is projected to reach 2.49 million hectares (ha) in 2023. This is a decrease of 10.03% (year-on-year/yoy) compared to the 2.76 million ha harvested in 2022.

In line with the decrease in harvested area, national production of dry corn with 14% water content is also predicted to decline by 12.50%, from 16.62 million tons in 2022 to 14.46 million tons this year.

East Java has the largest harvested area of corn in Indonesia, projected to reach 755,070 ha in 2023.

Following the national reduction in corn land area, East Java is also expected to experience a decrease of around 7.6% year-on-year.

Central Java is second with a harvested area of 384,540 ha, followed by North Sumatra with 208,490 ha.

According to BPS records, this year's corn harvest area survey using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) comprises three types of harvests: green harvest, young harvest, and cob harvest.

1. East Java: 755,071.41 ha
2. Central Java: 384,545.62 ha
3. North Sumatra: 208,488.53 ha
4. South Sulawesi: 177,861.46 ha
5. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB): 177,649.54 ha
6. Lampung: 167,856.96 ha
7. Gorontalo: 113,572.62 ha
8. East Nusa Tenggara (NTT): 99,065.5 ha
9. West Java: 80,001.52 ha
10. West Sumatra: 78,815.58 ha
