Welfare of Farmers in These 10 Provinces Fell Most Sharply Until October 2022

During the January-October 2022 period, farmer welfare in Central Kalimantan Province experienced the sharpest decline nationally. This is reflected in the Central Kalimantan farmer exchange rate index (NTP) which fell by 11.83% to 115.56 in October 2022 compared to its year-to-date (ytd) position at the beginning of the year.

The decline in farmer welfare in Central Kalimantan was triggered by a decrease in the price index received by farmers (Ib) by 5.75% (ytd) to 136.49. Meanwhile, the index paid by farmers (Ib) increased by 6.91% (ytd) to 118.11.

The province with the next deepest NTP decline was Bangka Belitung Islands, at 11.63% (ytd) to 120.12 in October 2022.

Then, South Sumatra's NTP fell by 10.44% (ytd) to 101.34, West Sulawesi fell by 10.03% (ytd) to 116.66, and Bengkulu fell by 6.04% (ytd) to 135.24.

South Kalimantan's NTP fell by 5.79% (ytd) to 104.39 during the same period. Riau's NTP then fell by 5.47% (ytd) to 143.86, West Kalimantan fell by 4.71% (ytd) to 136.85, and Lampung and East Kalimantan each fell by 4.41% (ytd).

Nationally, farmer welfare in October 2022 decreased by 0.99% (ytd) compared to the beginning of the year.
