Top 10 Most Produced Agricultural Commodities in Indonesia

Indonesia is known as one of the world's largest palm oil producers. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), palm oil is Indonesia's most produced agricultural commodity. In 2020, palm oil production in Indonesia reached 256.5 million tons.

Indonesia's high palm oil production is supported by its vast acreage. Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that the area of palm oil plantations in Indonesia reached 14.8 million hectares in 2020. Riau is recorded as the region with the largest palm oil plantation area, at 2.8 million hectares.

Besides palm oil, Indonesia is also known as the rice barn of Southeast Asia and even the world. This reputation stems from its high rice production. FAO data records Indonesia's rice production at 54.6 million tons, while milled rice production is 36.45 million tons.

Other commodities also produced in large quantities in Indonesia include sugarcane (28.9 million tons), followed by corn (22.5 million tons) and cassava (18.3 million tons).

Furthermore, Indonesia's banana production reached 8.18 million tons. Chicken egg and chicken meat production amounted to 5.04 million tons and 3.7 million tons, respectively.
