Up 0.94%, Farmers' Exchange Rate Highest Since November 2016

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the Farmer Exchange Rate Index (NTP) for August 2017, showing an increase of 0.94 percent to 101.6. This is the fifth increase since April 2017 and the highest level since November 2016. The NTP increase was driven by a 0.92 percent rise in the index of prices received by farmers (lt) accompanied by a 0.02 percent decrease in the index of prices paid by farmers (lb).

In August 2017, Lampung Province experienced the highest increase in NTP, at 1.82 percent, compared to other provinces. Meanwhile, West Papua experienced the largest decrease, at 0.44 percent. Rural areas experienced deflation of 0.12 percent due to a decrease in the food commodity group index.

The highest farmer exchange rate in August 2017 was recorded for farmers of people's plantation crops (NTPR) at 1.55 percent, while the lowest was for horticulture farmers (NTPH) at only 0.15 percent compared to the previous month.
