These 10 Provinces Were the Centers of National Broiler Production in 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that national broiler chicken production reached 3.43 million tons in 2021. This figure represents a 6.43% increase compared to the previous year's production.

Of this broiler chicken production, 860,160 tons originated from farmers in West Java Province. This accounts for 25.11% of total national production, the largest share compared to other provinces.

The next largest broiler chicken producing province was Central Java, reaching 639,690 tons (18.67%). This was followed by East Java with 442,480 tons (12.92%), Banten with 224,760 tons (6.56%), and North Sumatra with 166,730 tons (4.87%).

Subsequently, South Sumatra produced 106,980 tons (3.12%), Riau 104,620 tons (3.05%), Lampung 103,930 tons (3.03%), and South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi each produced 97,730 tons (2.85%) and 90,030 tons (2.63%) respectively.

Broiler chicken production showed an upward trend from 2017-2019. However, in 2020, production decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Broiler chicken production from 2017-2021 is as follows:
