Indonesia's Garlic Production Ranks Third in ASEAN

Based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) published by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Indonesia was the third largest garlic producer in ASEAN from 2014 to 2018.

Average garlic production in Indonesia during that period was 23,431 tons, contributing 7.46% to the total ASEAN garlic production.

Indonesia's garlic production was significantly lower than Myanmar's, which ranked first in ASEAN. Myanmar's average garlic production from 2014 to 2018 was 208,340 tons, contributing 66.29% to ASEAN production.

Thailand ranked second with an average garlic production of 73,654 tons (23.44%). The Philippines and Timor Leste ranked below Indonesia, with average garlic productions of 8,438 tons (2.69%) and 411 tons (0.13%), respectively.

The trend shows that ASEAN garlic production has been increasing since 1981 to 2018. During this period, there was an average annual increase of 2.08%.

In terms of productivity, Indonesia ranked first with a garlic yield of 8.49 tons per hectare from 2014 to 2018. The ASEAN average productivity was 6.88 tons per hectare.
