Bali's Salak Production Reached 75,400 Tons in 2020

Salak is one of Bali's leading fruit commodities. Many tourists buy salak fruit as souvenirs after vacationing in Bali.

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), salak fruit production in Bali reached 75,400 tons in 2020. This figure increased by 194% from the previous year, which was 25,600 tons.

Bangli Regency was the largest producer of salak fruit in Bali in 2020, reaching 46,400 tons. This was followed by Karangasem Regency with 21,800 tons. Then, Gianyar and Badung Regencies produced 4,600 tons and 1,700 tons respectively.

The most famous type of salak fruit in Bali is salak gula pasir (sugar palm salak). The main advantage of this type of salak compared to others is its extremely sweet taste.

Salak gula pasir has a high water content, making it even sweeter. Balinese people often ferment salak gula pasir, turning it into salak wine with an alcohol content of up to 13.5%.
