According to the Ministry of Trade's data, as of August 24, 2022, the price of chicken eggs had reached Rp30,000/kg in 21 provinces, with details as shown in the graph.

The highest egg price was recorded in Papua, at Rp39,650/kg. This price has increased by 15.09% since the beginning of the year.

According to the Acting Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Syailendra, several factors contributed to the increase in egg prices, ranging from increased demand to increased production costs.

"The easing of PPKM policies related to the change in Covid-19 status from a pandemic to an endemic has significantly increased the demand for chicken eggs by 60 percent, to meet consumption for households; hotels, restaurants, and cafes; and the food and beverage industry," said Syailendra, as reported by *Katadata.co.id*, Wednesday (24/8/2022).

Syailendra also revealed that since May 2022, there has been a price increase at the farmer level, influenced by the high Production Cost Price (HPP) of farmers, which currently ranges from Rp21,000-Rp22,000/kg.
