In August 2022, President Jokowi inaugurated a project to develop an integrated mango production center, or Mango Food Estate, in Gresik Regency, East Java.

"This Mango Food Estate involves many stakeholders, from upstream to downstream. This includes infrastructure, agricultural machinery, farmer groups, off-takers, and modern industry," said the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, in a press release (23/8/2022).

This production center is spread across several sub-districts in Gresik Regency, with a total targeted area of 6,024 hectares by 2024.

The Mango Food Estate project in Gresik Regency is managed by PT Galasari Gunung Sejahtera, focusing on cultivating Malaba, Gadung-21, Arummanis, and Garifta mango varieties.

"In addition to cultivation, primary and secondary post-harvest technologies will also be developed. The planned mango business model developed in the Gresik Food Estate is structured with the principles of integrated upstream-to-downstream business management, involving farmers as the main actors at a decent economic scale," said Khofifah.
