According to the Ministry of Health's data, in 2023, 22.46% of the Indonesian population aged 10 and above smoked daily.
Broken down by province, the prevalence of daily smokers was highest in West Nusa Tenggara, at 27.7%.
A high proportion of daily smokers was also found in West Java, Lampung, South Papua, West Sumatra, and Banten.
Central Java, Bengkulu, Central Sulawesi, and East Java also made the top 10, as shown in the graph.
Nationally, the prevalence of daily smokers aged 10 and above was higher in rural areas (23.7%) than in urban areas (21.6%).
Based on occupation, daily smokers were most prevalent among fishermen (57.6%) and laborers/drivers/domestic helpers (51.8%).
Daily smokers were also more common among men (43.8%) than women (0.7%).
