Top 10 Provinces in Indonesia with the Worst Severely Damaged Regency/City Roads in 2022

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report titled *2022 Land Transportation Statistics* shows that the total length of regency/city roads across Indonesia reached 445,165 kilometers (km) in 2022.

Of this total, 92,213 km were severely damaged roads, equivalent to 20.71% of the total length of national regency/city roads last year.

BPS defines severely damaged roads as roads passable by vehicles only at speeds of 0-20 km per hour and requiring road foundation repairs.

North Sumatra was the province with the most severely damaged regency/city roads nationally in 2022. A total of 10,362 km of roads were damaged in the province.

East Nusa Tenggara came in second with a total of 6,935 km of severely damaged regency/city roads. Lampung followed in third place with 5,576 km of severely damaged regency/city roads last year.

On the other hand, Yogyakarta Special Region had the least severely damaged regency/city roads, with only 356 km. It was followed by Banten and Riau Islands, with 450 km and 515 km of severely damaged regency/city roads respectively.

3. Lampung: 5,576 km
4. West Sumatra: 5,062 km
5. Papua: 4,888 km
6. Central Kalimantan: 4,727 km
7. Aceh: 4,403 km
8. South Sulawesi: 4,118 km
9. South Kalimantan: 3,257 km
10. Riau: 3,250 km
