Public health center (Puskesmas) service fees in Depok City, West Java, have increased by up to 500%, from Rp2,000 to Rp10,000, effective August 7, 2023.
The Head of the Depok City Health Office, Mary Liziawati, stated that this fee adjustment follows the Depok Mayor's Regulation (Perwal) Number 64 of 2023 concerning the General Guidelines and Determination of Service Fees for Public Service Agencies (BLUD) of Depok City Puskesmas.
Mary also said that this increase in healthcare service fees was implemented because the status of Depok's Puskesmas has changed to BLUD, thus requiring a fee determination.
"When the Puskesmas was not yet a BLUD, it was called a levy; we used a local regulation (Perda). So, before that, in 2010, we had Perda Number 10 of 2010 concerning basic health services and basic Puskesmas levy fees," said Mary during a virtual press conference, as reported by *Detik.com*, Wednesday (2/8/2023).
BLUD status requires Puskesmas to seek operational funds independently and no longer burden the Depok City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
Based on information from the Instagram account of the Depok City Health Office, the adjusted Puskesmas service fees are differentiated based on whether the patient has a Depok KTP (identity card) or not.
Furthermore, previously, Puskesmas service fees in Depok were Rp2,000 for all categories. Now, all categories have experienced a significant increase.
