Based on the *2022 PLN Statistics Report*, at the end of last year, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) had power plants with a total installed capacity of 44,939.88 megawatts (MW).
This total capacity increased by 475.13 MW or 1.07% compared to the end of 2021.
A detailed breakdown by power plant type shows the most significant growth occurred in gas and steam power plants (PLTGU).
In 2021, PLN had PLTGU with a total installed capacity of 11,408 MW. In 2022, this capacity increased by 356.85 MW, bringing the total to 11,764.85 MW.
Significant growth also occurred in gas engine power plants (PLTMG). During the 2021-2022 period, PLN's PLTMG capacity increased by 155.46 MW, reaching a total of 2,189.23 MW.
Next, coal-fired power plants (PLTU) saw an increase of 53.5 MW in installed capacity during 2021-2022, reaching 20,418.5 MW.
On the other hand, the increase in installed capacity of new and renewable energy (NRE) power plants was considerably lower.
During the 2021-2022 period, the installed capacity of PLN's hydropower plants (PLTA) only increased by 12.09 MW, reaching 3,516.51 MW.
Solar power plant (PLTS) capacity increased by 7.28 MW to 28.62 MW, and biomass power plant (PLTBM) capacity increased by 0.02 MW to 0.52 MW.
The figures above indicate that until the end of 2022, PLN's power plant capacity development remained focused on fossil fuels rather than renewable energy.
