According to investmentmonitor.ai, the Port of Shanghai in China ranked as the world's busiest port in 2020. Container traffic at this port reached 43.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
The Port of Shanghai was also the world's busiest port with a container volume capacity of 43.3 million TEUs.
Singapore's port ranked second busiest with traffic of 36.6 million TEUs, followed by Ningbo-Zhoushan and Shenzhen ports with container traffic of 28.72 million TEUs and 26.55 million TEUs respectively.
