PLN's 2021 Electricity Sales Results: Who Are the Biggest Customers?

State-Owned Electricity Company (Persero) or PLN recorded electricity sales revenue of Rp279.09 trillion in 2021 (unaudited). This figure grew by 6.95% compared to the previous year, which amounted to Rp260.96 trillion.

PLN's electricity sales revenue in 2021 came mostly from the household customer group, amounting to Rp118.14 trillion. This value grew by 6.19% from the previous year.

In 2021, the household customer group contributed 42.33% of PLN's total electricity sales revenue, the largest compared to other customer groups.

PLN's next largest electricity sales revenue came from the industrial customer group, with a value of Rp87.88 trillion (31.49%).

This was followed by the business customer group at Rp54.87 trillion (19.66%), and the social customer group at Rp6.98 trillion (2.5%).

There was also Rp6.09 trillion (2.18%) from the government office building customer group, and Rp5.13 trillion (1.84%) from the public street lighting (PJU) customer group.

As reported by *Katadata.co.id*, PLN accelerated debt repayment by Rp52.5 trillion during the 2020 and 2021 period. This comprised Rp30.8 trillion in 2020 and Rp21.7 trillion in 2021.

This accelerated debt repayment helped to reduce PLN's cost of electricity procurement last year.

For the 2022 and 2023 periods, PLN targets debt repayment of US$1.5 billion each year, equivalent to Rp21.5 trillion (assuming Rp14,363 per US dollar).
