PLN Customers Eligible for a 50% Electricity Tariff Discount in Early 2025

The government will provide a 50% electricity tariff discount for PLN household customers during January-February 2025. This discount aims to ease the public burden resulting from the increase in value-added tax (VAT) from 11% to 12%, effective January 1, 2025.

PT PLN (Persero) explained that the 50% electricity tariff discount will be given to 81.4 million customers with a capacity of 2,200 volt amperes (VA) or less.

"The number of currently registered household customers is 84 million, while customers in the 2,200 VA and below category number 81.4 million, so this program will benefit 97% of customers throughout Indonesia," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in a press release on Tuesday (December 17, 2024).

Here is the breakdown of the number of PLN customers who will receive a 50% discount during January-February 2025:

* 450 VA electricity capacity: 24.7 million customers
* 900 VA electricity capacity: 38 million customers
* 1,300 VA electricity capacity: 14.1 million customers
* 2,200 VA electricity capacity: 4.6 million customers

"With the support of customer digitalization that we have implemented, customers in this category will automatically receive the discount during the period of January to February 2025," said Darmawan.

This electricity tariff discount applies to both prepaid and postpaid customers.

For prepaid customers, the electricity tariff discount will be automatically applied when purchasing electricity tokens. For postpaid customers, the discount will be reflected in the electricity bill for the January-February 2025 period.
