State-owned electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), or PLN, reported a 5.7% increase in electricity sales to 257,630 gigawatt hours (GWh) in 2021 compared to the previous year. This achievement is better than the previous year, which experienced a 0.79% decrease.
The following is the breakdown of PLN's electricity sales by customer group in 2021:
* Household: 115,370.04 GWh
* Industry: 80,904.44 GWh
* Business: 44,440.85 GWh
* Social: 8,665.99 GWh
* Government Offices: 4,707.98 GWh
* Public Street Lighting: 3,544.6 GWh
- Total: 257,634.25 GWh
The growth in household consumption is one indicator of the revival of economic activity last year, following the easing of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The relaxation of social activities in the fourth quarter of last year was able to trigger national economic growth of 5.02% throughout the October-December 2021 period.
Meanwhile, PLN's average energy sales amounted to 3,121.18 kilowatt hours (kWh) in 2021. This figure grew by 1.23% from the previous year, which reached 3,083.02 kWh.
Furthermore, the company's revenue from electricity sales reached Rp279.09 trillion last year. This value grew by 6.95% from the previous year's Rp260.96 trillion.
