Not Jakarta, Households in This Province Have the Highest Telecommunications Access

Nationally, in 2021, 91.06% of Indonesian households had telecommunications expenses. Nine provinces had a percentage of households with telecommunications expenses below the national average.

Meanwhile, households in 25 other provinces had telecommunications access above the national average. Households in the Riau Islands had the highest national telecommunications access. This is reflected in the high percentage of households with telecommunications expenses.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2021, 98.25% of households in the Riau Islands had telecommunications expenses. This means that only 1.75% of households lacked telecommunications access last year.

The percentage of households with telecommunications access in the Riau Islands surpassed that of DKI Jakarta, which stood at 97.82%. With this figure, the percentage of households in the capital city with telecommunications expenses ranked second nationally.

The following positions were occupied by East Kalimantan (97.57%), North Kalimantan (97.34%), Riau (97.02%), Southeast Sulawesi (95.07%), South Sulawesi (94.74%), West Sulawesi (94.65%), and North Sumatra and Lampung, each at 94.56%.
