Several countries, including Indonesia, have temporarily banned Boeing 737 Max 8 flights following the crash of Ethiopian Airlines ET302 on Sunday (March 10th). Previously, Lion Air JT601 also crashed into the Java Sea minutes after takeoff in October 2018. Both crashed aircraft, manufactured by Boeing, were of the same model: the 737 Max 8.
For information, the Boeing 737 is the best-selling aircraft produced by the Chicago, USA-based manufacturer. Deliveries of the 737 series in 2018 totaled 580 units, representing 71% of the total 806 units delivered worldwide.
According to company data, total Boeing aircraft orders reached 5,904 units, with 78 units already delivered, leaving a backlog of 5,826 units. Orders for the 737 series reached 4,723 units, with 55 units delivered, leaving a backlog of 4,668 aircraft.
