Matic motorcycles are currently the favorite among two-wheeled vehicle riders in Indonesia. Their popularity has begun to displace bebek (underbone) motorcycles, which previously led the vehicle sales market.
The independent research institution, Frontier Group, conducted a Top Brand survey, including a category for motorcycles. The results show that the Honda Beat was the most popular matic motorcycle in Indonesia in 2022.
The Honda Beat achieved the highest Top Brand Index (TBI) score among other matic motorcycle brands, at 34.2%. It was followed by the Honda Vario with a score of 20.8%.
The Yamaha Mio came in third with a TBI score of 12.3%, followed by the Honda Scoopy at 9.9%, and the Honda PCX at 8.3%.
In addition to matic motorcycles, the survey also detailed the Top Brand sport motorcycles and bebek motorcycles in Indonesia. The Honda CBR was the most popular sport motorcycle brand with a TBI score of 31.4%, while the Honda Supra achieved the highest score for bebek motorcycles at 20.3%.
This assessment was based on a survey of 8,500 respondents spread across 15 major cities in Indonesia. The respondents consisted of 6,000 random samples, 1,700 booster samples, and 800 B2B booster samples.
The sampling method for random and random retail samples was multistage area random sampling. Booster samples were selected using purposive sampling.
Three parameters were used in this assessment. First, Top of Mind, or the first product brand mentioned by the respondent.
Second, Last Usage, or the last product brand used by the respondent. Third, Future Intention, or the respondent's desire to use that brand's product in the future.
The Top Brand Index score was then obtained by calculating the weighted average of each parameter.
