10 Best Romantic Films According to Letterboxd, Including an Indonesian Film

The New Zealand-based film review site, Letterboxd, has released a list of the 10 highest-rated romantic films of 2023. This list includes one Indonesian film, *Jatuh Cinta Seperti di Film-Film*.

Directed by Yandy Laurens, the film received a score of 3.8 out of 5. This rating is based on user reviews on Letterboxd from last year.

It is ranked alongside *Soulmate*, *The Blue Caftan*, *Slow*, and *The Nature of Love*, all of which also achieved a 3.8 rating on Letterboxd.

*Jatuh Cinta Seperti di Film-Film* tells the story of Bagus (played by Ringgo Agus Rahman), a screenwriter who falls in love with his high school friend, Hana (played by Nirina Zubir). However, Bagus's attempts to get close to Hana are hampered by her recent loss of her husband and her difficulty in opening her heart.

Unusually, this local romantic film features 80% black and white visuals. The director stated that this was intended to depict Hana's world after losing her spouse.

Meanwhile, the top spot for best romantic film on Letterboxd is held by *Past Lives*, with a rating of 4.2 points.
