Elon Musk's company, Tesla Inc., set a record for the highest number of electric vehicle deliveries in 2022.
"In 2022, vehicle deliveries grew by 40% (yoy) to 1.31 million units, while vehicle production grew by 47% (yoy) to 1.37 million units," Tesla management said in a press release on Monday (2/1/2023).
The most popular Tesla electric vehicles were the Model 3 and Model Y, with a total delivery volume of 1.24 million units, while deliveries of the Model S and Model X were only 66,700 units.
The electric vehicles that were produced the most throughout last year were the Model 3 and Model Y, totaling 1.29 million units, followed by the Model X and Model S at 71,170 units.
Although Tesla achieved its highest delivery record since 2011, this apparently did not reach the expected target.
"We expect to achieve an average annual growth of 50% in vehicle deliveries," as quoted from Tesla's company report in Q4-2021.
The American electric vehicle manufacturer also experienced business challenges last year. Due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in China, the Tesla factory at the Gigafactory Shanghai was forced to reduce its production.
