Wuling Reports Three Consecutive Months of Declining Sales

The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) reported that Wuling's wholesale sales (factory to dealer) reached 2,008 units in February 2022.

This figure represents a 19.71% decrease compared to the previous month (month-to-month/m-to-m). This is the third consecutive monthly decline since December of last year.

The decline in Wuling's sales aligns with the overall domestic car sales, which contracted by 3.37% to 81,228 units in February compared to the previous month. The extension of the luxury goods sales tax (PPnBM) incentive, which only became effective in early February, and the shorter number of working days last month contributed to the decline in national car sales.

Compared to February 2021, Wuling sales still recorded a 276% growth (year-on-year/yoy). Similarly, cumulatively from January to February 2022, the Chinese manufacturer's automotive sales still grew by 235% compared to the same period the previous year (cumulative-to-cumulative/c-to-c).

Cars from the Bamboo Curtain country have managed to attract the attention of Indonesian automotive users. This is reflected in Wuling's car sales, which reached 25,560 units throughout last year. This amounts to 2.9% of total domestic car sales. This share surpasses the market share of other car brands, such as Hyundai, Nissan, Mazda, and DFSK.
