Two months before the 2017 Lebaran homecoming season, the government, through the Ministry of Transportation, has prepared transportation facilities. The number of land transportation facilities prepared is 48,790 buses, consisting of intercity/interprovincial buses (AKAP), intercity buses (AKDP), and tourist buses. This number is up by 2,312 buses from the previous year. Meanwhile, 1,473 sea vessels have been prepared for the sea transportation sector.
Furthermore, for the air transportation sector, 526 aircraft from 14 airlines and 35 monitored airports in Indonesia have been prepared. For the railway sector, the total number of train sets is 1,694 units, with 1,565 units ready for operation and 129 units as reserves.
For homecoming travelers using private vehicles, the Ministry of Transportation predicts an 18.18 percent increase in the number of cars traveling during this year's homecoming period compared to last year, while the number of motorcycles is predicted to increase by 13.92 percent.
