The Panoramic train will resume operations in February 2022. The public can try the new route with ticket prices starting from Rp350,000.
The Panoramic train was first tested on December 24, 2022, on an additional Taksaka train journey from Jakarta to Yogyakarta. However, the route to be operated next month will be different.
According to PT KAI (Indonesia Railway Company), the Panoramic train operating next month will have routes from Jakarta to Bandung and Bandung to Surabaya. The train will operate as part of the Argo Parahyangan passenger train (Gambir Station-Bandung round trip) and Argo Wilis (Bandung Station-Surabaya Gubeng round trip).
The ticket price for the Panoramic train to Jakarta-Bandung is priced at Rp350,000, while the Bandung-Surabaya route is Rp1,120,000. Tickets can be booked through the KAI Access application, the official KAI website, and all other official KAI ticket sales channels.
The Panoramic train is the first train in Indonesia with a panoramic experience. This train has very large windows on both sides. There is also a long glass roof from front to back that can be opened and closed automatically.
"This provides a different sensation because (passengers) can enjoy the scenery along the journey," said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi while trying out the Panoramic train, quoted from a press release on Saturday (January 28).
Budi mentioned that other countries have Panoramic train services, including the United States, Japan, and Switzerland. With the presence of the Panoramic train, according to Budi, Indonesian citizens no longer need to travel far abroad to experience this new sensation.
