The National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) stated that motorcyclists commit the most traffic violations compared to other vehicles.
From January to May 2023, motorcycle violations accounted for 67% of the total 512,924 vehicles involved in traffic violations.
Meanwhile, minibuses, passenger cars, and goods vehicles accounted for 27.23%. Other vehicles comprised 5.7%.
"Motorcycles are the most numerous type of vehicle involved in traffic violations, accounting for 67% of the total 512,924 vehicles," said Pusiknas Polri.
The number of motorcycle violations fluctuated over the past five months of 2023.
January recorded 49,290 units. This number then increased to 73,380 units in February 2023.
In March 2023, the number decreased to 69,940 units. A decrease also occurred in April 2023, reaching 51,730 units.
However, in May 2023, the number jumped significantly to 99,630 units. Traffic violations by motorcycles in May were the highest.
"The number of motorcycles involved in traffic violations in May 2023 increased by 92.6% from April 2023," wrote Pusiknas Polri on its official website.
