Although superior in terms of environmental friendliness, electric motorcycles and cars are also considered to have several weaknesses.
Based on the results of a Kompas Research and Development survey, the majority, or 43.4% of respondents, considered the weakness of electric vehicles to be their shorter driving range compared to fuel-powered vehicles.
Furthermore, 29.8% of respondents found it difficult to find charging stations, 14.7% considered the charging time relatively long, while 12.1% did not know the shortcomings of electric vehicles.
Advantages of Electric Vehicles
The Kompas Research and Development survey also recorded respondents' views on the advantages of electric vehicles.
The majority of respondents, or 54.4%, stated that electric vehicles are environmentally friendly, and 27.1% considered their energy costs cheaper than fuel.
There were also 5.1% of respondents who considered electric vehicles to require less frequent servicing compared to fuel-powered vehicles, 4.2% considered it easy to charge, and the remaining 9.2% did not know.
This survey was conducted through telephone interviews with 504 respondents aged 17 years and older, spread across 34 provinces in Indonesia.
The survey was conducted from April 5-9, 2022, using a random sampling method according to the population proportion in each province.
The confidence level of this survey is 95% with a margin of error of approximately 4.37%.
