Based on a report from the Official Airline Guide (OAG), Changi Airport in Singapore was the busiest airport in Southeast Asia in July 2023.
OAG assesses airport busyness based on its flight seat capacity. Changi Airport recorded a flight seat capacity of 3.16 million passengers in July 2023, a 5% increase compared to the previous month.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Indonesia, ranked second with 3.08 million passenger seats, followed by Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, with 2.70 million passenger seats.
"Of the top 10, the highest capacity growth was Bangkok International Airport (BKK), which increased by 9% compared to June 2023," wrote OAG in its report.
Other Indonesian airports also made the list, namely Ngurah Rai Airport and Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, with flight seat capacities as shown in the graph.

5. SGN (Tan Son Nhat Airport, Vietnam): 2.38 million passenger seats
6. MNL (Ninoy Aquino Airport, Philippines): 2.37 million passenger seats
7. HAN (Noi Bai Airport, Vietnam): 1.95 million passenger seats
8. DMK (Don Mueang Airport, Thailand): 1.39 million passenger seats
9. DPS (Ngurah Rai Airport, Indonesia): 1.24 million passenger seats
10. UPG (Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Indonesia): 951,180 passenger seats
The OAG report also noted that the total capacity of Southeast Asian airlines in July 2023 reached 37.24 million passenger seats. 22.73 million seats were from domestic flights, and 14.51 million seats were from international flights.
