Buses and private cars were the primary modes of transportation chosen by travelers in the Jabodetabek region during the 2019 homecoming season. According to the 2019 Lebaran Homecoming Transportation Potential Survey, 4.46 million travelers from Jabodetabek used buses. Meanwhile, 4.3 million people used private cars.
Trains are predicted to have transported 2.49 million travelers. Airplanes were used by 1.41 million travelers. Motorcycles were used by 942,621 travelers, with the remainder using other modes of transportation.
Compared to 2018, the number of travelers using airplanes decreased by 0.2%, motorcycles decreased by 0.3%, and private cars decreased by 0.9%. The number of travelers using business-class trains increased by 0.2%, and economy-class trains increased by 0.4%.
The survey, conducted by the Transportation Research and Development Agency (Balitbanghub) of the Ministry of Transportation, involved 7,762 household respondents. The number of travelers from Jabodetabek is predicted to reach 14.9 million people, or 44.1% of the total Jabodetabek population in 2018, which was 33.76 million people.
