Domestic motorcycle sales in Indonesia recorded another decline in September 2021. According to a report by the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), the volume of motorcycles sold in the domestic market totaled 464,614 units in September 2021, down 1.15% compared to the previous month, which reached 470,065 units.
However, the volume of motorcycle exports from Indonesia increased in September 2021. The increase in motorcycle export volume reached 14.70%, from 73,521 units in August 2020 to 84,327 units in September 2021.
The achievement of motorcycle sales volume to overseas markets in September 2021 was the highest in the last year. The previous highest motorcycle export record was in January 2021 at 81,929 units.
Meanwhile, the highest domestic motorcycle sales volume was achieved in April 2021. At that time, 472,889 motorcycles were sold domestically.
In total, national motorcycle sales have reached 3,761,407 units from January to September 2021. Scooters contributed 87.29% of total national motorcycle sales.
Underbone motorcycle sales only contributed 6.54%. Meanwhile, the proportion of sport motorcycle sales was 6.17%.
Meanwhile, the volume of motorcycle exports reached 626,076 units from January to September 2021. 66.63% of total motorcycle distribution was scooters, 20.66% sport motorcycles, and 12.71% underbone motorcycles.
