PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI reported that, as of Monday (23/2/2026) at 07:00 WIB, a total of 42.85% or 1.65 million regular train tickets have been booked for the Lebaran homecoming period with departure dates between March 11 and 26, 2026.
Based on the route, the Gambir-Yogyakarta route is the most booked, with 18,515 passengers.
Conversely, Yogyakarta-Gambir is also the second most booked, with 16,807 passenger bookings.
Here is the list of the 10 most booked train routes for the 2026 Lebaran homecoming, as of February 23, 2026 at 07:00 WIB:
- Gambir-Yogyakarta: 18,515 passengers
- Yogyakarta-Gambir: 16,807 passengers
- Gambir-Semarang Tawang: 14,105 passengers
- Pasar Senen-Lempuyangan: 13,483 passengers
- Surabaya Pasar Turi-Pasar Senen: 12,802 passengers
- Pasar Senen-Kutoarjo: 12,743 passengers
- Lempuyangan-Pasar Senen: 12,571 passengers
- Gambir-Purwokerto: 11,999 passengers
- Pasar Senen-Surabaya Pasar Turi: 11,791 passengers
- Gambir-Cirebon: 11,568 passengers
If viewed by departure date, H+1 Lebaran or March 23, 2026 is the most crowded period with 120,858 passengers.
This is followed by March 24, 2026 (117,476 passengers), March 19, 2026 (108,494 passengers), and March 18, 2026 (107,668 passengers).
"Although some popular dates are starting to fill up, there are still plenty of seats available on other days, so the public still has flexible travel options," said KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba in a written statement on Monday (23/2/2026).
In addition, the government will provide a 30% discount on train fares for the travel period between March 14-29, 2026. This applies to commercial economy class, with ticket purchases between February 10 and March 29, 2026.
