According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association (Gaikindo), the sales of pickup trucks from factories to dealers (wholesale) in the domestic market reached 107,008 units in 2025.

This sales volume equates to 13% of total national sales. The figure also grew by 5.35% year-on-year (yoy).

Import of Pickup Trucks from India

Two Indian companies, PT Tata Motors and Mahindra Ltd, announced that they would supply 105,000 units of pickup trucks to the state-owned enterprise Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. This was done to meet the operational needs of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative.

However, this decision sparked controversy amidst the Indonesian automotive industry. Gaikindo Chairman Putu Juli Ardika stated that Indonesian companies are capable of meeting domestic needs.

According to him, Gaikindo members and their supporting industries have the production capacity to meet these needs.
