According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), the volume of car sales from factories to dealers (wholesale) in the domestic market reached 66,447 units in January 2026.

The volume decreased by around 42% compared to December 2025 (month-to-month/mtm). However, when compared to January last year, the figure increased by 7% (year-on-year/yoy).

At the beginning of 2026, Toyota became the best-selling car manufacturer in Indonesia, recording wholesale sales of 20,078 units, equivalent to 30% of the total national wholesale sales.

It was followed by Daihatsu and Mitsubishi Motors, which each recorded wholesale sales of 12,513 units and 6,898 units respectively.

Gaikindo targets wholesale car sales in Indonesia throughout 2026 to reach 850,000 units, higher than the 803,000 units achieved in 2025.

However, this target may be adjusted if there are changes in conditions.

"We have agreed this year to set a target of 850,000 units," said Gaikindo Secretary General Kukuh Kumara, as reported by KatadataOTO, Saturday (31/1/2026).
