Geely Xingyuan Again Becomes China's Best-Selling Electric Vehicle in July 2025

According to CleanTechnica data, electric vehicle sales in China reached 987,093 units in July 2025.

During this period, the Geely Geome Xingyuan was once again the best-selling electric vehicle model in China, with sales of 44,274 units. This model has held the top spot for seven consecutive months.

"Besides its highly competitive price, full support from a major manufacturer like Geely also helped, along with its well-proportioned design, a blend of the Wuling Bingo and Smart #3," CleanTechnica stated in its report on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

The BYD Qin Plus followed in second place with sales of 31,327 units. This figure combines sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y, from the United States, ranked third with sales of 30,766 units.

Tesla is reportedly trying to boost sales by releasing a 6-seater, economical version at the end of the year.

"But, can Tesla return to its glory days? It seems difficult, especially with new competitors like the Xiaomi YU7 and Xpeng G7, which have already received a flood of pre-orders," said CleanTechnica.
