Top 10 Best-Selling Electric Vehicles Globally, First Half of 2025

According to a Clean Technica report, global electric vehicle sales reached 9.04 million units in the first half of 2025.

Tesla Model Y was again the world's best-selling electric vehicle type in the first half of this year, with sales of 456,024 units, or 5% of total global sales.

Next was the BYD Song or Seal U, recording 330,748 units. This figure combines sales of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).

Tesla Model 3 completed the top three, selling 240,075 units.

However, BYD was recorded as the world's best-selling electric vehicle manufacturer, with a 17.3% market share in the first half of 2025. Tesla followed with a 12.2% share.
