According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), domestic wholesale sales of cars totaled 51,205 units in April 2025.
Volume plummeted 22.77% month-to-month compared to March 2025, which recorded sales of 70,895 units.
In April 2025, Toyota was the best-selling car brand in Indonesia with wholesale sales of 16,077 units.
Following Toyota, other Japanese manufacturers, Daihatsu and Suzuki, occupied the next positions with wholesale sales of 8,884 units and 4,145 units, respectively.
Meanwhile, BYD, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, achieved wholesale sales of 3,496 units in April 2025. BYD's achievement surpassed Honda's sales, which usually ranks among the top five best-selling brands.
Gaikindo Secretary General Kukuh Kumara cited several factors contributing to BYD's surge in sales compared to other Chinese brands.
"The models are quite good, and BYD's approach tends to be global. They've introduced a new approach, a good network, so BYD addresses all consumer concerns," said Kukuh, as reported by *Kompas.com* on Tuesday, April 13, 2025.
