*Mickey 17* tells the story of Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson), an expendable used for colonization missions on the icy planet Niflheim. Expendables are cloned humans who can be replaced by new versions with intact memories.
He undertakes dangerous and deadly tasks. Each time he dies, a new version of himself is "revived" to continue his mission. Until one day, Mickey 17 is declared dead after a mission fall, and Mickey 18 is created as his replacement.
It turns out that Mickey 17 didn't die and encounters Mickey 18 in his room. This situation triggers a conflict because the system only allows one clone to live.
The film is adapted from the novel *Mickey7* by Edward Ashton, published in 2022.
