Toyota Books 6,202 Orders at GIIAS 2024, Most Hybrid Vehicles Sold

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) recorded 6,202 vehicle order bookings (SPK) during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, held from July 18-28, 2024.

“Hopefully, this positive sales record will strengthen Toyota's sales and significantly contribute to the growth of Indonesia's national automotive market in the second half of 2024,” said PT TAM Vice President Director Henry Tanoto in a press release on Wednesday (July 31, 2024).

Of that number, the Kijang Innova model dominated with 1,968 units booked. The largest portion came from the All New Kijang Innova Zenix HEV with 1,305 units.

Second place went to the All New Avanza Veloz, which recorded 1,395 SPK during the exhibition. The All New Yaris Cross HEV followed with 240 SPK.

Then, the All New Alphard HEV, newly released at last year's GIIAS, sold 121 units, followed by its twin, the All New Vellfire HEV with 25 units, and the New Corolla Cross HEV with 22 units.

Overall, Toyota's sales during GIIAS were dominated by electrified vehicles, including hybrids, with a total of 1,724 units or 27% of Toyota's total SPK during this period.

Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy assessed that hybrid technology is currently a suitable mobility solution for use throughout Indonesia.

“Thanks to the increasingly complete options, we hope that the market for Toyota's electrified vehicles, including Hybrid EVs, will continue to grow to provide more ways to achieve carbon neutrality,” he said.

In addition, Toyota also introduced the Hilux Rangga model with various conversion types such as camper vans, mobile waste stations, and LED boxes at GIIAS 2024. Although not yet officially released, pre-bookings for this vehicle exceeded 450.
