Land transportation using motorized vehicles has made it easier for people to move from one location to another. Now, driving is further facilitated by the presence of infrastructure ranging from highways to toll roads.
However, some Indonesian people are still unaware of the permitted speed limits for driving.
Government Regulation Number 79 of 2013 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation Networks, Article 23 Paragraph 4, states that:
1. The maximum speed on toll roads is 100 km per hour.
2. The maximum speed on intercity roads is 80 km per hour.
3. The maximum speed in urban areas is 50 km per hour.
4. The maximum speed in residential areas is 30 km per hour.
This regulation is reinforced by the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 111 of 2015 concerning the Procedure for Determining Speed Limits, Article 3 Paragraph 4.
Many people are negligent in driving, resulting in frequent traffic accidents. Especially ahead of the 2022 Idul Fitri holiday, people engage in the tradition of *mudik* (returning to their hometowns) using two-wheeled and four-wheeled private vehicles.
To ensure safe arrival at their hometowns, people should comply with the regulations and traffic signs provided. If feeling drowsy, they should rest to avoid unwanted incidents.
